“To teach is to touch a life forever.”

I am proud to call this state my home as a Colorado native born and raised in the mountains. I love most everything that Colorado has to offer, including hiking, snowboarding, horseback riding, camping, and playing soccer.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts here at CU-Boulder in 2005. After earning the TESOL Certification in Costa Rica in 2006, I returned back to the CU-Boulder School of Education for the Teacher Licensure program in Elementary Education. It was during the Post-BA licensure program that I realized my passion and gift was in education, specifically in literacy. I was also blessed to have had inspirational and engaged professors like Shelby Wolf and mentors like Susan McIver.

I am now in my fifth year of teaching second grade at Flagstaff Academy and love what I do. I teach all subjects, but my passion lies in literacy development and instruction. I started the Master's in Curriculum and Instruction - Literacy Education program in June 2013. The program has given me a deeper understanding of how to successfully and explicitly teach reading and writing to students and how to make it engaging and meaningful.

As the ambassador for the Master's program in Literacy Education, I am happy to assist prospective students and share my experiences as an alum and current student of CU-Boulder.
