Ruben Donato is Professor of Education and Chair of Educational Foundations, Policy, and Practice. Dr. Donato is an educational historian and his research interests range from the educational histories of Mexican Americans to current educational policy issues that affect Latinos in American schools. His teaching interests are in the areas of history of American education, multicultural education, School and Society, and African American and Latino education in the United States.

Dr. Donato has served as chair for Division F (history and historiography) for the American Educational Research Association (AERA), was National Academy of Education Post Doctoral Fellow, and recent winner of the American Educational Studies Association “Critics Choice” award for his recent book.
