Kevin G. Welner, JD, Ph.D Research As a legal and policy scholar working in the field of education, my current research spans several areas of investigation. These areas are by-and-large tied together by issues of equity, law, and k-12 school policy. My work on school choice includes an upcoming book on so-called 'tuition tax credit' laws in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Florida; a study on the effects of public school choice in Colorado; and an evaluative study of a major small-schools reform, also in Colorado. My work on ability grouping includes ongoing studies of detracking in Denver and in Long Island, New York. Past studies have focused on teacher free-speech issues, the school reform process resulting from court-orders, and the disproportionate representation of students of color in special education. |
