The faculty of the School of Education are its greatest strength. Distinguished researchers are at the same time actively involved in teaching, teacher education, and outreach to schools and the community.

CU-Boulder's School of Education was ranked number one in U.S. News and World Report for the percent of faculty receiving national awards for their research. Faculty in the school have also won a significant number of awards for excellence in teaching, advising, service, and service learning.

Faculty research projects address issues such as bilingual education, school choice, language and literacy development, assessment and high-stakes testing, reform-based mathematics instruction, girls and women learning science, and technology.
