cy.Scan Volunteer Opportunities

One of the ways that cy.Scan and university-based researchers can learn from the community and utilize community-based knowledge is through rich, mutual collaboration with volunteers. For example, "Simply the Best!" uses a web of volunteers with each student, including adults from her neighborhood, women of color working in high tech careers, CU undergrads majoring in science, and high school students.
spaceAll of our volunteers attend one or more training sessions. Each semester we offer a general volunteer training and through-out the year we offer various workshops about a community's role in community-based research. Our next general volunteer training session will be early in February, 2002, so let us know if you are interested.
cy.Scan also has a need for volunteers who do not work directly with students.

Here are a few of our immediate needs:
(1) volunteers to help set up computers in students' home
(2) drivers from 26th and Welton to Montbello at 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and noon on Saturdays.
(3) someone to set up a Web server--hardware and software
(4) office help to update our mailing lists.
(5) graduate students to collect data, take fieldnotes, transcribe tapes (we will train you).

If you can help, please call Leslie at (303) 466-8827 or email cy.Scan.
