2009-2010 School of Education Associate Dean for Research Position

Position Description: The Associate Dean for Research reports directly to the Dean and is a member of the Dean’s administrative team.  Primary responsibilities will be to facilitate and expand the School’s research enterprise and to oversee grants administration.  Other responsibilities include: identifying funding resources consistent with faculty interests, supporting faculty and graduate students in writing proposals, fostering and participating in within-college and cross-campus collaborations, and working with a communications coordinator to enhance the dissemination of research results.  The successful candidate will possess an array of qualifications from among the following:  an exemplary record of research, grantsmanship, experience with federal funding agencies, and experience with philanthropic foundations.  The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and have a track record of successful mentoring and working collaboratively with others.  Preference will be given to candidates with administrative and budgetary experience and to those who demonstrate a commitment to issues of diversity and equal educational opportunity.  The candidate’s area of expertise should correspond to one of the School’s five graduate degree areas listed above.  Depending on the qualifications and career goals of the candidate, the position would be rostered as associate or full professor with tenure or as professional administrator.  Scholars of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
