Services
Faculty members and instructors may schedule classes in the library, reserve the in-house PC computer lab, place materials on reserve, and request flexible hours to coordinate with specific classes being taught and to accommodate students working outside the university classroom. In addition to providing a variety of professional, methodological and hands-on curriculum materials, the staff offers an individualized approach to library research, helping patrons develop effective online searches and formal library research.

History of the Library
In 1983, the School of Education and the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education combined their separate library collections to form the Bilingual/Special Education Lab. The collection has expanded with additions provided by BUENO Center grant contributions, School of Education purchases, regular donations from School of Education faculty members (notably, Dr. Leonard Baca, Dr. Philip Langer, and Professor Emeritus Dr. Marc Swadener), BUENO Center staff, and an ongoing appeal to publishers for materials. A 1988 grant from the Women's Educational Equity Act Program provided funding for a comprehensive Gender Equity Collection. In 1992, the Bilingual/Special Education Lab and the School of Education's Curriculum Library merged to form the Equity, Diversity and Education Library. The merger more than doubled the volume of the holdings. The establishment of a software review center, in 2003, added to the library 250 educational software programs donated by various publishers. Steadily, over the years, the holdings have grown with substantial donations from Dr. Roberta Flexer, Dr. Stephen Hodge, Dr. Michael Kalk, Dr. Verne Keenan, Dr. Richard Kraft, Dr. Stan Ratliff and the Women’s Studies Department. In 2005, the library was honored to receive the complete professional collections of Associate Vice Chancellor Ofelia Miramontes (second language learning and bilingual special education), Dr. Nick Peressini (mathematics) and Dr. Ernest House (education policy and evaluation). More recently, the generosity of The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education brought to the collection $2,000 worth of testing instruments from a U.S. Department of Education special education grant and $5,000 from a Colorado Department of Education grant for the acquisition of materials to assist present and future teachers in educating diverse students in grades K-12.
