As the project manager for the city of Knigsbergâ's expansion onto Keiphof island, you have successfully directed the construction of a beautiful new city. However, along with the responsibility of building Knigsbergâ's expansion, you have just been informed that your company is now also responsible for the maintenance and day-to-day operations of the new addition to the city. The officials of the city have decided that the portion of the town which has access to a plurality of the bridges contained in the city will be responsible for inspecting all of the bridges in the town, so your company is now responsible for this task.
Since your company is upset that you did not foresee this additional work, they have assigned the task to you. Inspecting the bridges requires that you walk across each bridge each day, and examine it, as you walk across, for damage or wear that will require repairs. Since the task is quite tedious, you give yourself an additional challenge: When you inspect the bridges, you will cross each bridge once and only once, and finish where you started. Since the city of Knigsberg is so beautiful (especially the portion that was built by your company), you donât mind walking any amount of distance on land. Can you find a path which allows you to accomplish this feat? You may start your walk anywhere in the town of Knigsberg.
