Many decision making bodies like the House of Representatives and our own student council use a system in which a small number of people represent a large number of people. Our charge today, in groups of 4, is to produce a 7 person council in which each of the 7 representatives will either represent the blue eyed, green eyed or brown eyed students in the class. Students without a distinct eye color must choose one of the groups to be in. Your group may use any of the methods described in class (Jefferson, Hamilton, Webster, or Hill), or devise a method of your own. Be prepared to explain your solution and the method you used. You may need to defend the validity of your method.
Next, "like eyed" students will get together in groups and discuss which of the small group solutions, if any, they think is most fair and why. Be prepared to present your ideas.
