Black Jack

The purpose of the card game Black Jack, is to get a count of 21, or as close to it as possible without going over. You are dealt two cards and can take an additional cards as many times as you want. The value of the cards are as follows:

- Aces are worth 1 or 11

- Tens, Jacks, Queens, and Kings are worth 10

- all other cards are worth their number value.

The term "Black Jack" means that you get a value of 21 with only two cards.

(example): King of _'s, Ace of _'s. Assume for the following questions that you are using a 52 card deck.

1. What is the possibility of getting "21" with three cards?


2. What is the probability of getting "21" with three cards?


3. In a standard game, the dealer must stay if he/she has 17 or higher; however, must draw another card if he/she has 16 or lower. Why? (Hint: what are the odds of getting 16, 17?)


4. Does Black Jack have better odds for the dealer or the player?
