Join the Pathways2Teaching program for a gallery walk with students from Centaurus and Boulder High Schools on Wednesday, May 10, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the University Memorial Center Glenn Miller Ballroom. High school students will present their final research projects from Pathways2Teaching, a concurrent enrollment program for 11th and 12th grade students to explore issues in education, social justice and equity, and teaching as a potential career choice.

Founded in 2010 by CU Denver Professor Margarita Bianco, the Pathways2Teaching program has served hundreds of students in several Denver metro school districts and through an affiliate program in eastern Oregon. Many of graduates are now enrolled in teacher education programs or related areas such as social work.

Bianco and CU Boulder's Terrenda White, assistant professor of educational foundations, policy and practice, have teamed up to expand the program into new schools and to broaden research on recruitment and retention of students and teachers of color in Colorado, with support from a CU Boulder Outreach and Engagement Award. School of Education doctoral students Wagma Mommandi and Brian Lightfoot have been working with teachers and students this past year to examine critical issues related to educational justice and help students earn college credit towards teacher education programs.
