Kathy SchultzDean Kathy Schultz spoke with KOA radio about two new degree options coming soon to the School of Education— a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a bachelor’s degree in leadership and community engagement.

"There is a great need for the elementary education major clearly because of the teacher shortage across the state," she said. "In addition to a regular elementary education degree, we've been able to add the endorsement for teaching in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. This is a going to fill a real need in Colorado and across the country."

The Leadership and Community Engagement is also serving great needs and interests from students.

"Our Leadership and Community Engagement Major will be one of its kind," she said. "There are very few of these majors across the country and there's a real interest among young people in working in community and non-profit organizations, in international development and urban planning, and this program will help them do that."
