On Dec. 10, Julia Daniel, PhD student in educational foundations, policy and practice, presented at a Congressional Forum, called “Closed for Learning: The Impact of School Closures on Students and Communities,” held at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington D.C. Julia's talk, “Community Schools as an Effective Reform Strategy,” was one of three presentations on a panel moderated by Linda Darling-Hammond. The purpose of the forum was to engage Congressional staff and key stakeholders in a discussion on the effects of school closures on students, parents, and the community-at-large. The event featured the perspectives of national advocates, community members, and students.
