Associate Professor of Literacy Studies sj Miller was voted unanimously onto the Board of Trustees of the Lambda Literary Foundation. As stated in its mission, "Lambda Literary believes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer literature is fundamental to the preservation of our culture, and that LGBTQ lives are affirmed when our stories are written, published and read." As a member of the board, Professor Miller will participate in governance, fundraising, and the selection of Lambda Literary's prestigious awards for outstanding LGBTQ literature.

Professor Miller, who also has expertise in bullying, is giving an invited lecture at Keene State's Diverse Voices Series on October 27th in Keene, NH, entitled "Understanding, Interrupting, and Shifting the Tides of Bullying for Generation Bullied 2.0." Professor Miller is also offering a lecture on "Unpacking the Mind of a Bully - The Neuroscience of Bullying" followed by a screening of the film, Mean Creek on November 17th, 7:00pm at the Dairy Center for the Arts's Boedecker Cinema in Boulder, CO. Tickets will be available through the Dairy Center for the Arts.

Professor Miller's edited volume with Leslie David Burns and Tara Star Johnson, Generation Bullied 2.0: Prevention and Intervention Strategies for Our Most Vulnerable Students, was recently featured in VOYA Magazine's annual "Extending the Five-Foot Bookshelf" list of "More Essential Books for Professionals Who Serve Teens."
