Carrie Allen, a PhD Candidate in the Educational Psychology and Learning Sciences program, has been selected as a 2014-2015 fellow of the Community for Advancing Discovery Research in Education (CADRE). CADRE is "a resource network funded by the National Science Foundation that supports researchers and developers who participate in Discovery Research K-12 (DR K-12) projects on teaching and learning in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines."

As stated on its website: "The CADRE Fellows program, now in its sixth year, is a competitive fellowship designed to be a capacity-building experience for early career researchers and developers. The Fellowship is a reward for past accomplishment and an investment in a person's originality, insight, and potential. Fellows will be exposed to DR K-12 research beyond their projects, gain insights into the NSF and what it takes to be successful and effective researchers and developers, and network with researchers and developers from across the country.

Participation in the Fellowship will consist of participating in a series of capacity-building activities including video conferences, webinars, conference calls, and in-person meetings; some independent work, including preparing for activities; and collaboration with other Fellows to produce a final product, such as a presentation, paper, or proposal."
