Ph.D., Boston College, 1973, is a professor of economics specializing in the theory of international trade, and direct foreign investment. His primary contributions to the theory of international trade involve analyses of imperfect competition, increasing returns to scale and multinational corporations. Professor Markusen has been designated a University of Colorado Distinguished Professor. This prestigious title is extended to recognize his outstanding contributions to economics and high degree of international visibility.
