At Home

How to Recycle In Your Home

  • Use a separate bin (from your regular trash bin) for any recycling
  • Make sure to follow recyling guidelines specific to Boulder County
  • DO NOT put recycling in PLASTIC bags (paper bags are okay)
  • Take all recyclable items to designated recycling bins/dumpster for your home (most likely next to your trash bins/dumpster)
  • Unless specified, most places have single stream recycling.  This means you can throw your paper recycling together with your container recycling

How to Set Up Recycling Collection for your Home

If you live in a Single Family Housing unit (single house, duplex, triplex):

  • Every home should have recycling bins
  • If you do not have recycling bins next to your trash, call your landlord/property manager to set up recycling collections
  • If your landlord says you are responsible to set up recycling collections, call your trash hauler to get it included in your collections
  • Western Disposal is most likely your trash hauler; call 303-444-2037 or go to www.westerndispoal.com

If you live in a Multi Family Unit (apartment complex, 3+ multiple unit house):

  • Your apartemnt complex should have recycling bins/dumpsters located next the trash bins/dumpsters
  • If you do not have recycling bins next to your trash, call your landlord/property manager to get recycling bins/collections for your building
  • If you are in need of a FREE recycling bin or bag for your individual unit, please email the Recycling Green Teams at cure@colorado.edu
