Professional Development SIG: Call for Paper for 2003 Seminar at AAS |
The ATJ's Professional Development SIG meeting will be held from 7:00 to 11:00 pm on March 28th (Friday), 2003, in conjunction with the annual conference of the Association for Asian Studies in New York City (March 27-30, 2003). Papers in the area of Professional Development are solicited.
Papers are 20 minutes long with an additional 10 minutes for Q & A and discussion. An abstract for a paper should be no more than 300 words in English or 700 characters in Japanese. A paper should focus clearly on the issues related to Professional Development. Papers should indicate the title in the upper left-hand corner, and the name of the presenter and the language of presentation in the upper right-hand corner. After a paper abstract, please provide the following information:

Selection of papers will be made by the review committee. Evaluation criteria will include (1) innovative ideas/theories and practice, (2) usefulness for those who are involved in professional development, (3) relevance to the field, and (4) strength of arguments. Please note that because of the high cost of renting AV equipment there may be a charge to presenters for use of an LCD computer projector.
The deadline for submission is January 15, 2003. Papers should be submitted in electronic format by e-mail to Proposal Review Committee Chair, Masako O. Douglas: mdouglas@csulb.edu and to Yasu-Hiko Tohsaku, Chair of Professional Development SIG: ytohsaku@ucsd.edu. We will notify the results via e-mail by early February, 2003. If you have a problem in submitting the proposal via e-mail, please let us know.
