Professional Development SIG |

The Professional Development SIG was established to provide a forum for the discussion and information exchange of professional development in the field of Japanese language education. The SIG covers both teacher preparation at the pre-service level and teacher development at the in-service level as well as professional development for college and university teachers. Recognizing that we, as professional Japanese language teachers or teacher trainers, need pedagogical, linguistic, cultural, and other knowledge and skills, we strive to increase the knowledge and skills necessary for achieving excellence in our work. The SIG will carry out a variety of activities to help its members achieve this goal. We encourage the SIG members to suggest any topics of interest or any activities beneficial for the members and our field to the chair and to discuss matters relevant to us via our mailing list. We usually have a business meeting at AAS annual meetings and ACTFL annual conventions. The SIG is open to all interested ATJ members.
