The Nominating Committee encourages members to nominate qualified individuals for the ATJ Board. Qualifications for Board members include a strong commitment to Japanese studies, an interest in ATJ, and expertise in one or more of the following fields: literature, linguistics, language pedagogy, education, or a related field. Board members who are elected in a general vote of the membership in spring 2002 will serve three-year terms beginning in April 2002 and ending in April 2005.
