Membership in ATJ is on a calendar-year basis, and entitles the member to receive the Journal of the Association of Teachers of Japanese (two issues annually, scheduled for April and November) and the ATJ Newsletter (four issues annually, scheduled for September, November, February and April each year), attend the annual conference and vote on matters placed before the Association at that time, and benefit from the Association's on-going efforts to promote Japanese studies and enhance the quality of education in these fields. The categories of membership and the corresponding dues are indicated on the membership form. If you wish to print the form out directly from your internet browser, go to the membership application page. Or, you may download a pdf version and fill that out. If you are not able to download the form, please request one from the ATJ office by phone, fax, or e-mail. Now: Join online! If you wish to join or renew your membership online, paying by credit card (Visa or MasterCard only), please go to our secure e-payments website. The ATJ is affiliated through its sister organization, the National Council of Japanese Language Teachers (NCJLT) with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. A check for an extra $15 sent with your annual membership dues to ATJ will bring you membership in NCJLT. (Please note that if you have paid for a longer term membership in ATJ, you will still need to send the $15 check each year, as NCJLT does not yet have multi-year memberships). NCJLT in turn is an organizational member of ACTFL, which means that you may propose panels and workshops for the annual ACTFL meetings through NCJLT and that you may attend the annual ACTFL meeting at ACTFL member prices. CONTINUING MEMBERS: Please renew promptly. Late renewals result in increased labor and costs to the Association. You can renew online at our secure e-payments website. NEW MEMBERS: The standard membership rate applies throughout the year for new members. Throughout each membership year, all new memberships are automatically backdated to the beginning of the year unless you specifically request that membership begin the following year. You will receive both issues of the current volume of the Journal, but if you are joining late in the year, you should be aware that copies of already-mailed issues of the Newsletter may no longer be available. Previously published issues of the Newsletters are always available online. Already published issues of the Journal will be mailed at the end of the month in which your membership is processed. All payments must be made in U.S. dollars. Overseas members may pay by International Postal Money Order, by check drawn on a U.S. bank, or by credit card.
