Student Leadership Opportunities
Disability
Services offers students with disabilities several ways to gain leadership experience, information,
and knowledge by participating in:
- DS sponsored student leadership opportunities,
- leadership training through
academic programs, classes, and certificates,
- leadership through student
groups and student government,
- taking the initiative on issues of disability
and diversity, or
- getting involved with national and international
disability leadership programs.
Discover Your Ablities Student Organization
The Discover Your Abilities Student Organization represents an increased presence of disability awareness, advocacy, and activism on campus. The group offers students with disabilities peer support, engages in student leadership outreach and educational opportunities, enhances the understanding of disability as part of diversity, and provides nondisabled student allies the opportunity to gain access to disability cultural knowledge.
Outreach and Education Positions
Students have the opportunity to join Disability Services in the various presentations, orientations, conferences and other outreach programs we
are asked to give throughout the year.
Advisory Positions
The DS staff welcomes students interested in joining advisory boards
and committees on a variety of topics from assistive technology to disability
awareness and diversity.
