About the Handbook

The University of Colorado at Boulder is committed to a diverse community that includes individuals with disabilities. Disability Services (DS), a unit within Student Affairs, provides support and advocacy for students with disabilities. To fulfill this mission, DS builds and maintains partnerships in the university community. The  Disability Services Faculty and Staff Handbook serves as a resource for the university community as its members engage in building a strong community where students with disabilities are fully integrated and have equal access.

The  Disability Services Faculty and Staff Handbook provides information about the legal framework of disabilities, definitions of disabilities, the process of determining reasonable accommodations, DS support services, classroom strategies, general information, and campus resources. We hope this handbook enhances understanding of individual rights and responsibilities related to disabilities. We recognize that this handbook cannot cover every situation with every individual. Disability Services would like faculty and staff to use this handbook in collaboration with individual support from DS.
