The assistive listening device is a closed-circuit FM system which requires an instructor or speaker to wear a microphone that sends a direct auditory amplified signal to the user via a receiver. The user is responsible for the system, including making sure instructor or speaker wears the microphone and that the receiver is working appropriately. The ALD works with most hearing aids in amplifying the voice of the instructor or speaker. The FM system is available on loan to Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students, staff, and faculty who need sound amplification for communication access in the classroom, meeting, or any other event on campus. To request an ALD, set an appointment with DHHS Specialist. |
