Research Interests
My research combines field work and laboratory experiments and analysis to better understand dissolved organic matter (DOM) biogeochemistry in surface waters. I have studied DOM dynamics, such as photo- and bio-reactivity in stream, wetland, coastal, and estuarine environments. Recently my research has included studying the effects of wildfires on stream water particulate and dissolved organic matter quality. I primarily use optical properties including UV-Vis absorbance and fluorescence spectroscopy with parallel factor analysis to determine DOM quality.
