Sasha Cagen is an author and social media entrepreneur who builds communities around passions and new ideas. Her latest book, To-Do List: From Buying Milk to Finding a Soul Mate, What Our Lists Reveal About Us, is a collection of 100 real, handwritten lists and the stories behind them. To-Do List celebrates the world of the overlooked and mundane, letting our lists serve as unique windows into our everyday lives.

Cagen is the author of Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics, a singles manifesto that received widespread media attention from CNN to the London Observer. She is most well known for coining the term “quirkyalone,” a person who prefers being single to dating for the sake of dating. Cagen also created and International Quirkyalone Day, a growing alternative to Valentine's Day that celebrates all forms of love and that has been celebrated in more than 30 cities around the world.

Her essays have appeared in the Village Voice, Men's Health, the San Francisco Chronicle, and in many anthologies. She has spoken at numerous institutions, including Google, San Francisco's Grace Cathedral, University of San Francisco, and Boston College. Cagen currently serves as co-founder of, a style-centric social networking site called “addictive” by the San Francisco Chronicle and a “Facebook for fashion” by the New York Daily News.

A native of Rhode Island, she currently lives in San Francisco.
