Brian Hollywood is a senior broadcast journalist at BBC Television Center in London. He produces Breakfast with Frost, the agenda setting political and current affairs program hosted by Sir David Frost. Recent guests have included Bill Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Kofi Annan, Tony Blair, and not forgetting Simon Hoggart (who sadly will not be at CWA this year as he has to stay in London and keep watch on the United Kingdom government in this British election year!).
Brian Hollywood was an award-winning BBC reporter in Northern Ireland and has been involved in making a wide variety of television programs, from news to consumer affairs to popular culture and entertainment. In the past he was part of the BBC's creative development team for network. He has also served as a board member for several charities and cultural institutions.
After working for the Centre for International Legal Studies in Salzburg, Austria, Hollywood became a research fellow in criminology at Queens University in Belfast. He taught a variety of courses, but specialized in the sociology of deviance. His work won several major awards from the British Society of Criminology and the Royal Irish Academy. His PhD was on the subject of moral panics and drug use.
He studied law and French in Ireland and Belgium but decided never to practice law as he is quite attached to his soul.
Hollywood writes poetry and crime fiction and has come back to Boulder in the hope that Bill Nack will recite more F. Scott Fitzgerald.
