Vladimir M. Shamberg
Distinguished Visiting Professor at the US Air Force Academy, Dr. Vladimir Shamberg was born in Moscow, where he distinguished himself as an editor, educator, and research professor. For 30 years he was Senior Research Fellow and Department Head at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations—the most prestigious think tank in the field. U.S. economy, U.S. government, U.S. politics, and Soviet-American relations were his areas of research while at the Institute. He also published a number of monographs, Government Regulation of Economic Growth in the United States, among them, numerous chapters in collective monographs, and articles in scientific journals. Among his publications in the United States are Russia in Search of Its Place in the Post-Cold War World, Stalin's Last Inner Circle, and Government Shake-Up in Moscow.
Since 1990 Shamberg has lived in the United States. He has been Visiting Professor at Columbia University, Georgetown University, and Connecticut College. Shamberg has been teaching at the Air Force Academy since 1992, first in the Department of Political Science, and from 1997 in the Department of Economics and Geography. His research and teaching concentrate on the history and politics of the Soviet Union, transition from socialism to democracy and market economy, economics, and politics of Russia and other former socialist countries.
