Yasin Samatar works with the Institute for International Humanitarian Affairs jointly run by Fordham University and the Center for International Health and Cooperation. The Institute offers an academic base for the study and development of international health, human rights, and other humanitarian issues, especially those that occur in periods of conflict.
Samatar has served in many capacities with the United Nations system and with the International Organization for Migration. He is passionate about youth issues, migration management, preventive diplomacy, and refugee and humanitarian affairs.
A graduate of Seton Hall University, Samatar earned his masterís degree from the John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations, specializing in global negotiations, conflict transformation, and multilateral diplomacy.
