Declan McCullagh is the chief political correspondent for CNET News.com. An award-winning journalist, McCullagh writes and speaks frequently about technology, law and politics. Previously he was the Washington bureau chief for Wired News, and a reporter for Time magazine, Time Digital Daily and Time’s The Netly News. He has appeared on NPR's All Things Considered, Good Morning America, NBC Evening News, Court TV and CNN.

McCullagh’s photographs have appeared on book covers, most recently Smoothing the Rough Edges about life in Istanbul and in newspapers and magazines, such as The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Scientific American, Gear magazine and Premiere magazine. They have also been incorporated into television segments, including programs created by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

McCullagh has been an Internet denizen since 1988 and has been writing about technology since 1990. He moderates Politech, a well-known mailing list that looks broadly at politics and technology. He is a founding editor of cluebot.com, a technology and political news site and also has co-hosted a weekly cybercast TV show.

McCullagh has been an adjunct professor of law at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland since 2002. He lives and works in Washington, D.C.
