Hal Nathan is a partner and senior portfolio manager at Seneca Capital Management, an institutional money-management firm in San Francisco. The firm currently manages $13 billion in client assets. He received his PhD in monetary economics from the University of California and has worked in finance for nearly 30 years.
In 1999, Nathan established the Foundation for the People of Burma, a nonprofit organization which funds humanitarian projects in Burma and on the Thai-Burma border. The Foundation also funds leadership programs. He serves as the president and CEO of the project and travels to Burma at least twice a year to assess existing projects and current needs.
As an environmental activist and practicing Buddhist, Nathan also serves on the boards of the Pt. Reyes Bird Observatory and Spirit Rock Meditation Center.
