Brian Hollywood

This is Brian Hollywood’s (yes, that is a real name!) first Conference on World Affairs and hopefully not his last. He is completing his Ph.D. in Criminology on the subject of moral panics and drug use, while also working as a researcher in social exclusion at Queen’s University, Belfast.

When not mired in academia, Hollywood regularly contributes to BBC Digital’s popular television culture show, “The Eleventh Hour” and the weekly political discussion show, “Straightalking.” He has also written for The News Letter and Fortnight, both based in Belfast. His half-written crime novel Passing Calvary won the Crime Writer’s Association “First Chapter” prize, and a selection of his poems were recently published in The Hauling Songs.
