As a child growing up near Boulder, Colorado, Michael Tarazi did not even know he was Palestinian. As an adult, Tarazi has emerged as one of the most visible and articulate Palestinian spokesmen.
A graduate of Phillips Academy, Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Tarazi spent most of his professional career as a corporate lawyer living in New York City, Helsinki, Paris, Istanbul and Budapest. At the end of 2000, Tarazi returned to Occupied Palestine to serve as a legal advisor to the PLO’s Negotiation Team where, despite being deported by Israel last July, he still resides. Tarazi advises on permanent status negotiations with Israel with respect to matters such as borders, Israeli colonies and refugees.
Tarazi regularly tours the United States speaking on current conflict and the breakdown of negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis. He has recently made numerous appearances on CNN, NBC, ABC and the BBC. On June 7, 2002, Tarazi was described in a front-page feature article of the Wall Street Journal as “the most articulate and sophisticated Palestinian advocate to come along in years.”
