Jay Harris is the publisher of Mother Jones magazine (winner of a 2001 National Magazine Award for General Excellence) and president of Mother Jones’ non-profit parent, the Foundation for National Progress. He has been publisher of Mother Jones since 1991.

Harris began his magazine career with Newsweek International, with various positions in New York and Hong Kong. He has been publisher of the Asian edition of Travel & Leisure and general manager of the Pacific edition of Newsweek. He is a graduate of Duke University (B.A.) and Yale’s School of Management (M.B.A.) Harris is active in the Social Venture Network and Business for Social Responsibility.
