Evelyn Resh is an author, sexuality counselor, and practicing nurse-midwife. Her new book, Women, Sex, Power, and Pleasure: Getting the Life (and Sex) You Want is a treatise on the importance of women's relationships with pleasurable living as the means by which to maintain emotional well-being, personal power, and an on-ramp to sexual desire. It is something of a sequel to her first book, The Secret Lives of Teen Girls: What Your Mother Wouldn't Talk About but Your Daughter Needs to Know, which takes a distinctly sex-positive view of sexually active teen girls. Resh has been a contributing writer on the topics of sexuality, mother-daughter relationships, and women's health for many national websites, including Oprah.com, The Huffington Post, Gurl.com, Seventeen.com, and is currently a featured expert on ChickRx.com. She is known for her pithy and humorous writing style and her public speaking voice, which is well received by just about everyone.
Resh lives in rural western MA in a little house on a hilltop with a great view of the Berkshires. She shares her life with her partner of 19 years and a tribe of grown kids, grandchildren, and a large community of talented and loving friends and neighbors. She laughs as often and as heartily as possible but never at anyone's expense--except maybe her own--and is a true believer in maintaining a positive outlook on life. She has been a speaker at CWA several times and really loves it.
