Sallie Trout is the founder and principal designer for Trout Studios, an innovative, dynamic design firm that offers space design, decorative hardware and furniture to retail and designer markets. Trout Studios (www.troutstudios.com) bases its products and projects on a philosophy of innovation, simplicity, imagination and wit. Trout has studied languages and international relations at Johns Hopkins University, as well as design and welding at Los Angeles Trade Tech and the Southern California Institute of Architecture.
Trout has taught furniture design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and UCLA’s extension program. Her work has been featured in more than 350 articles and television shows worldwide, and she was named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the “Ten Arbiters of Taste in America.”
When she’s not designing products, you can find her sculpting fine art pieces or playing with her beloved dogs, Elvis and Target. Living proof that there are more than twenty-four hours in a day, Trout also serves on the Board of Directors of City Hearts, a Los Angeles based charity that works with at-risk children. She uses creative arts as a means of increasing self-esteem, improving educational performance and developing character.
