William Eagleton has just completed a two and a half year tour as special representative of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara. He has also served the UN as special coordinator in Sarajevo and deputy commissioner general of the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees.
Prior to 1988 Eagleton was chief of mission at a number of American embassies in the Middle East and North Africa, including Baghdad, Algiers, Tripoli, Aden and Damascus. He is the author of The Kurdish Republic of 1946 and Kurdish Rugs. He will be traveling again to the Middle East in late April.
