Inga M. Muscio
Author of the book Cunt: A Declaration of Independence, Inga Muscio has been writing since she was eight years old. Although she hated high school and barely graduated, she holds a degree in writing from The Evergreen State College. She has applied for and received no fellowships, grants or residencies at fancy retreats. Her interest in furthering her formal education is limited to the perverse glee inspired by the thought of people addressing her as "Dr. Muscio."
She presently spends the vast majority of her time researching and writing her second book, Autobiography of a Blue-Eyed Devil, which deals with a social condition she refers to as "white normativity." Muscio is also working on an updated edition of Cunt and an as-yet-untitled Part II for Cunt, which will be published by Seal/Avalon in 2003.
Among her socially unaccepted beliefs, Muscio thinks the men who are selling the earth need to be stopped and that the existing economic and political power structure should be completely inundated with indigenous, black, white, Asian, Latino, Middle-Eastern, Pacific Islander and homosexual grandmothers. She thinks people who watch television experience atrophied critical thinking skills. Muscio thinks the multinational corporation work ethic has infiltrated American culture to such an extreme degree that children are killing themselves and others because there is no love, no hope and no joy.
Muscio's work has appeared in weekly newspapers, feminist and lesbian magazines and hundreds of unknown but highly beloved 'zines.
