Born in Beirut, Lebanon, John Sinno left Lebanon at the age of 20 with his family and moved to Southern California where he acquired an M.F.A. in film production as well as an M.A. in communication theory. His first film, Killing A Deer, won the Arkoff film award in 1989. In 1993, he moved to Seattle and has lived and worked there for the past eight years.
Since 1998, Sinno has owned and operated Arab Film Distribution in Seattle, the largest distributor of Arab cinema in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, he produces and curates the bi-annual Seattle Arab Film Festival, to be held in March of 2002 at the Broadway Performance Hall in Seattle.
