Goal: Reduce petroleum use by 25% by 2012, based off of 2005 numbers
With over 200 fleet vehicles on campus, a reduction in petroleum use has proven to be a very challenging topic. One way to try and tackle this is by offering staff a sustainable driving course. This course could teach best practices in driving, car pooling, using alternative transportation when possible, and many other basic principles.
The campus Buff Bus is currently fueled by Bio-Diesel fuel that is made from the collection of grease from the dining halls on campus. The university could benefit from investigating other innovative solutions like this for other vehicles in the fleet.
