CU Art Museum mission

mission statement

The CU Art Museum of the University of Colorado
at Boulder is committed to enhancing public
understanding of the visual arts and to
advocating interdisciplinary approaches to
the social, cultural, technological and historical
context of art.

The Museum presents exhibitions and related
educational events through which we emphasize
diversity, critical thinking, creative research and
training in museum practices. Our activities
serve the academic community of the University,
the metropolitan area and state-wide populations.
We provide access to art of the highest quality
through exhibitions of regional, national and
international significance.

The Art Museum is steward of the Colorado
Collection, a permanent study and teaching
resource for the citizens of the State. We are one of
only two non-profit collecting art agencies in the
metropolitan area. We promote the excellence,
preservation, interpretation, and exhibition of the
Colorado Collection, and its use for scholarly
endeavors and outreach efforts.
