Month’s Feature CU Hotspot for
Kids:
The Colorado Shakespeare Festival
The 50th anniversary of the Colorado Shakespeare
Festival is this summer.
Until then, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival's
highly acclaimed touring program, Living Shakespeare,
will bring the bard’s word alive at
your school or community organization. For
over 16 years, Living Shakespeare has enlivened
over 55,000 students, teachers and community
members across the state.
From September to
May, professional actors
from the Colorado Shakespeare
Festival offer an assortment
of Living
Shakespeare Performance presentations, each with their
own distinctive selection of rollicking
scenes, songs, and (maybe!)
sonnets from some of
Shakespeare's best-loved
plays. Show titles for this year are: Elementary
School Show - “Shakespeare’s
Sister”,
Middle School Show – “Monstrous
Little Voices”, and High School Show – “Boy
Meets Girl Meets Shakespeare”.

Read Across America
Started in 1997 by the National Education
Association and its members
started a reading revolution
with Read Across America
Day. It began with a
one-day celebration of
Dr. Seuss’s
birthday, March 2, and
has now become a year-round
literacy campaign reaching
nearly every home, school,
and community. For more
information on Read Across America Day, activity
ideas, planning materials or resources, please,
visit the NEA
website.
On this day, Friday, March 2, 2007, volunteers
from CU-Boulder will read in selected schools,
along with read-along appearances from the
CU mascot, Chip.
