Adventures of Cholo, Vato, and Pano
This series of books tells the story of a Hispanic boy, his two dogs - and their adventures from a summer of migrant farm work to a Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico. The most recent installment of the story details his journey of self-discovery through a summer of conversations with his grandmother. Written by CU-Boulder professor of fine art, George Rivera and illustrated by CU alum Tony Ortega, the series chronicles the adventures of Cholo, Vato and Pano. Their travels and experiences are described in Spanish and English with Ortega's colorful and lively illustrations. These stories enable students to glimpse the culture of Hispanic families and opens discussion around culture, migrant issues, tradition, and childhood discovery.
