Progress Since Second Annual Status of Women Report

During 1999-2000, the CCW achieved major progress in a variety of areas.

  • Sexual Harassment office. A new co-chair has been put into place. Resources to support the position have been forthcoming from the Chancellor. The CCW worked actively to encourage these changes. The first report on sexual harassment was presented to the campus in November 2000.
  • Second Annual Status of Women Report. This report was presented to the public in the Fall of 1999 by the Chancellor. It received extensive press coverage including a front page article in the Boulder Daily Camera. It was also featured on a Boulder-area radio broadcast. The report can be found on the web at http://www.colorado.edu/cu-diversity/status_women99.
  • Statistical support. A graduate student is being funded in the Office of Planning, Budget and Analysis during the 2000-2001 academic year to gather the data needed to support the Status of Women Report and the data that would be necessary to conduct an MIT-type study, a study that examines resources and space allotments on the basis of gender.
  • The interim position of Associate Vice Chancellor for equity and Diversity, held by Ofelia Miramontes, was upgraded to a permanent position during 2000. CCW actively supported both the upgrade and the naming of Professor Miramontes to the permanent position.
  • Analysis of salary data for faculty now provides comparisons that compensate for multiple variables (discipline, rank, highest degree, ethnicity, gender, etc.). In addition, job classification data are now provided by gender and ethnicity.
