Diversity and Equity Education and Training

CU-Boulder Campus Diversity Training Resources
Acting to Dismantle Racism: these White on White Taskforce workshops are designed to give white people tools to actively dismantle racism on campus. Free and open to staff, faculty, and students.
Diversity Education Team: composed of professionals from diverse backgrounds experienced in diversity education and covers a myriad of diversity topics through a variety of learning experiences ranging from introspective to mini-lectures to small group interaction. In most cases, the format combines content information with experiential or interactive activities.
Disability Services - Faculty and Staff In-Service Opportunities: to learn more about access and become a disability ally. Offer topics including: Creating a welcoming environment for employees/students with disabilities, Understanding how accommodations are determined and provided, How to create accessible media for students with visual impairments and other disabilities, and Understanding Americans with Disabilities Act & Rehabilitation Act 504 updates as they impact on faculty and staff.

Discrimination and Harassment Office Trainings: provides UCB staff, faculty and student employees mandatory discrimination and harassment workshops. Customized trainings also available upon request by contacting Tangie Sutton at 303-492-3063. Spanish trainings available upon request by contacting Omaira Bankston at 303-492-8103.
GLBT Resource Center Safe Zone Training: four hour workshops that will help provide participants with the skills to create a safer space for GLBT students within the University community.
Leadership Education for Advancement and Promotion (LEAP): for leadership workshops for new faculty (1-4 years) interested in improving negotiating strategies, focusing career planning, and improving time management skills, click here; for brochures with tips on recruiting and retaining women in science and engineering, as well as newsletters, click here.
Organizational and Employee Development: offers training designed specifically for a requesting department. A representative of OED will meet with the requesting department to identify learning objectives and customize the session to their needs. Frequently requested topics include: diversity training, organizational culture inventories, TQ team support, focus group facilitation.
CU-Boulder Campus Opportunities for Dialogue and Education on Diversity Issues
Annual Diversity Summit: features interactive sessions designed to increase awareness of and encourage open dialogue about diversity issues.
CU Dialogue Network: a group of CU faculty, staff and students committed to fostering dialogue and promoting positive strategies for dealing with difficult conversations on campus. Most recently, discussions were facilitated around the movie "Crash".
Dennis Small Cultural Center: dedicated to on-campus ethnic and minority communities, DSCC acts as a gathering place which features multicultural exhibits and performances, and serves as a academic advising/counseling operation.
Disability Services - Accessible Media, Web & Technology Conference
Interactive Theatre: provides professionally scripted and improvisational performances addressing difficult issues that impact community. These creative forums are designed to engage community, faculty, staff and students in diaglogue about social justice, contributing to greater community strength and competence.
Multiversity: an 8-part television series coordinated by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. It is a showcase of the strengths of faculty, staff and students on issues of race, ethnicity and class on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado.
People of Color Film Series: informally explores and processes films and documentaries about the diversity in our lives as University members; discussions are facilitated by the Center for Multicultural Affairs' counselors.
Women's Studies Events, including their Women's Studies Spring Dialogue Series which brings together academic as well as community intellectuals to promote an open dialogue that embraces diversity and to provide a platform to discuss critical national and international issues.

Alliance for Change: offers diversity training videos/DVDS.

ATS Media: offers training and consulting that specializes in team and organizational effectiveness, change management, and valuing diversity.
Mares-Dixon & Associates: provides conflict management services to companies, government agencies, organizations and community groups, as well as training in negotiation, mediation, facilitation, dispute resolution systems design and coaching.
New America Consulting Group: helps businesses, educational institutions and organizations prepare for the New America created by shifting demographics.
Race in America Bookclub: hosted by the YWCA of Boulder County, readings are discussed on the first Monday of every month from 6pm-8pm at the YWCA.
Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence: offers presentations and training on topics that reflect their committment to equity, social justice and violence prevention. Social Justice Training Institute: provides a forum for the professional and personal development of social justice educators and practitioners to expand and refine their skills and competencies in designing and facilitating diversity awareness experiences.
Tolerance.org: a web project built to fight hate and promote tolerance. Offers tolerance tools, advice, stories and more.
