Computational Biology

Overview

Work in Computational Biology in the CS department at CU Boulder involves foundational research in core areas of systems biology, sequence analysis, complex networks, bioinformatics, and evolutionary biology. There are also significant efforts aimed at developing and applying algorithmic advances to problems in a wide range of areas, including protein interaction and gene recombination networks, DNA transcription, the human microbiome, and evolutionary theory.

Our faculty are engaged in a number of active collaborations on campus, including the BioFrontiers Institute, the IQ Biology graduate certificate program (a collaboration of nine CU departments), and the Computational Biosciences Program at the Anschutz Medical Campus at CU Denver, as well as numerous national, international and industrial collaborations.
