At the undergraduate level, the Department of Computer Science offers the BS in Computer Science degree or the BA in Computer Science degree. Both degrees provide students with exciting course options and excellent employment opportunities. Please see our recent presentation from Admitted Student Day.

The BS degree offers different paths through the curriculum that lead to areas of specialization, including:

  • General Computing
  • Computational Science and Engineering
  • Human-Centered Computing
  • Networked Devices and Systems
  • Software Engineering
  • Systems

BA students interested in these areas of specialization can create an academic plan consistent with the BA degree requirements.

The BS in Computer Science degree culminates in a senior-year course where students carry out a year-long software engineering project for a real-world industry sponsor.

The BA in Computer Science degree provides a solid foundation in CS knowledge and skills but provides the flexibility for students in the College of Arts and Sciences to take a double major or earn a minor/certificate in another A&S discipline.

Both degree programs prepare students for a wide range of careers in the computing field.

Contact Beth Webb if you would like to ask questions about either of these two degree programs.
