Putting the Creed into Action
CU Students:
- Work with fellow students, faculty, and the community in efforts
to enhance the value of degrees from CU-Boulder
- Are honest with their friends, roommates, classmates, faculty,
landlords, community members and most importantly, themselves
- Take responsibility for their actions, good and bad
- Are tolerant of and learn about people and ideas that are outside
their own “comfort zones”
- Take action when the well being of others is in jeopardy
- Actively involve themselves in the CU community
- Strive to make new discoveries, scientifically, academically and
personally
- Conduct themselves in society in a manner consistent with the
ideals of the Creed
How We'll All Benefit
Establishment and acceptance of the Colorado Creed should offer:
- A safer, richer experience in the CU community
- A more valuable degree that can enhance a job search
- A better understanding of different students, cultures and
community members
- A rewarding sense of belonging on campus and in the community
- Everyday pride in CU’s heritage for students, faculty, staff,
alumni, businesses and members of the Boulder community
Building Awareness in the CU Community
A number of awareness-building messages are placed on campus and in
the community. They include the Creed text itself, as well as the seven
guiding principles.
- Brass building plaques at locations such as the Library, UMC, the
Events Center and Folsom Field
- Embossed flagstone sidewalk slabs in key traffic areas
- Campus promotional literature such as admissions applications,
course catalogs, and email correspondence
- Retail display stickers
- Framed Creed text in residence hall common areas
- Campus architectural features, as funding allows
