Wilderness first responder class coming to CU-Boulder

The CU Hiking Club is sponsoring a Wilderness First Responder Class for students and community members, during the Spring 2013 semester. The cost is $350 for CU Hiking Club & CU Alpine Club Member and $400 for community members. The 80-hour course typically costs over $800 and is being offered at an introductory discounted rate through the CU Hiking Club. In addition to the discounted rate being offered to students and community members, 10 percent of all proceeds are donated to the CU Hiking Club to help support their programs and services.

The nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is designed for wilderness professionals and others who want a higher level of training or require WFR certification for employment such as trip leaders and guides, park rangers, professional rescuers, remote workplace response team members, or persons planning extensive wilderness trips. While it is not being offered “for Credit” at this time it makes a great addition to your resume and could put you ahead of other applicants.

If you are serious about obtaining your WFR certification but already have classes scheduled that conflict with the WFR class schedule, please e-mail the course instructor (or call 1-866-459-7233 ext. 101) to see what type of accommodation may be available so you can still participate.
