Professor Olsen's proposal was one of four proposals selected by a national peer-review panel to receive funding through Colorado Campus Compact’s Scholarship of Engagement grant program. Scholarship of Engagement grants support and strengthen community engagement in teaching and research through development of reciprocal campus and community partnerships, the promotion of student learning, and the increase in visibility and legitimacy of community engaged work in higher education. Submissions for the Fall 2012 application deadline reached an all-time high, making the process extremely competitive.
